"It is so short and jumbled and jangled, Sam, because there is nothing intelligent to say about a massacre. Everybody is supposed to be dead, to never say anything or want anything ever again. Everything is supposed to be very quiet after a massacre and it always is except for the birds. And what do the birds say? All there is to say about a massacre, things like 'Poo-tee-tweet!'"

About the artist:
Banyek (András Hargitai), whose extensive artistic activity covers electronic music compositions and audio-visual projects, is mainly focused on using oldtimer digital signal processing in a contemporary perspective and a special organic-technology centered point of view. As a performer, he is active mainly as a dub music artist on several festivals. .

About the release:
“The most organic yet absolutely syntetic audio release by me so far. There are shortwave signals, rain, wind, many types of birdsongs to hear - but these sounds never had any connection to a natural source. The records were made during live sessions with a symbolic amount of overdub, in the autumn of 2020 - using a modular synth.

The last track of the EP is a dub version of a folk song using the voice of Erzsébet Ádám including the glitches of her original vinyl recordings’ scratches. I could regard her as a featuring artist, because her voice is an a place entity which I have frequently revisited in the last 15 years.”

The cover has been designed by Vatsa, and it’s connected strongly to the audio material: the front cover is fragmented to pieces, and with the attached comb one can make the raindrops and bird-figures move on the cover.

A kiterjedt alkotói múltra visszatekintő Banyek (Hargitai András) elektronikus zenei és audio-vizuális alkotó, akinek fő érdeklődési területe az archaikusnak számító korai digitális jelfeldolgozás és analóg áramkörök kreatív újrahasznosítása egy sajátos, organikus-technológiai megközelítésben.
"Ez az eddigi leginkább organikusnak mondható, mégis teljesen szintetikus anyagom. Rövidhullámú rádióadásokat, esőt, szelet és többféle madáréneket is hallhatunk rajta - ezeknek a hangoknak azonban sosem volt semmilyen természetes jelforrása. A felvételeket élőben, minimális overdubbal, 2020 őszén rögzítettem - analóg moduláris szintetizátorral készültek." - mondja az alkotó.

Az EP utolsó trekkje egy népdal élőben felvett dub verziója Ádám Erzsébet - és a hangját őrző kopott, sérült hanglemez - előadásában.

A lemez borítóját Vatsa tervezte, mely szervesen kapcsolódik a hanganyaghoz: a borító részekre bontott, a lemezhez mellékelt fésűvel az esőcseppek és a madár-alakzat is animálható.
