Morzsái az eltörött világkalácsnak (Crumbs of the broken world cake, 2019)
On the texts of Anna Lesznai
– excerpts
Anna Lesznai (1885-1966), a writer, poet, painter, illustrator and textile artist, was an important person in the Hungarian intellectual elite in the first half of the 20th century, living through the storms of the history. Artists and politicians of the time were frequent guests in her garden in Körtvélyes, but the garden itself also meant a world to her: a place of creation, thinking and love, from which she was forced twice into exile. She recorded her thoughts in her amazingly exciting and voluminous diaries, and her tales and poems appeared in countless volumes.
At the request of the Lajos Hatvany Museum, in connection with the Lesznai exhibition there, a musical monodrama entitled Morzsái az eltörött világkalácsnak (Crumbs of the broken world cake) was made in 2019. The textbook of the lecture is based on Lesznai's selected diary excerpts and poems. They appear in prose or singing form, embedded in an electroacoustic musical texture that follows a variety of musical styles, following the diversity of the oeuvre. The four songs included here are also one such style exercise for Lesznai's poems, performed by Éva Bodrogi.

Halk nóta
[...] Kezemben úgy tartom az életet,
mint kicsi korban kukorica-torzsát,
lerágtam róla az édes szemet:
jóllaktam már, nem történhet bajom -
eldobhatom, ha akarom -
s ha kedvem tartja, játszom még vele!
